Top Station earns its name honestly — at roughly 1,700 metres, it was once the highest point on the old monorail route used to transport tea, and today it's simply the best viewpoint in the Munnar region. On a clear morning, the Kundala Valley unrolls beneath a sea of cloud, with the Tamil Nadu plains visible far in the distance. It's a quieter, less commercialised stop than some of Munnar's other viewpoints, which makes it a favourite for travellers who want a few unhurried minutes looking out over the Western Ghats before the day gets busy.
